Expanding the Garden

My hubby agreed with me that the garden should be expanded. That in itself was a shock. I really thought he would say "next year" but he didn't. Instead today he went to get more crossties so that we could get this project done soon.
To my surprise he came back with enough to triple the garden space and enough to do a lily bed. The only problem he ran in to was they did not have as much top soil as he wanted to mix in.
I was in shock! This was a nice surprise. Now I have a lot of work to do!

Wow that's great. You're shocked for you are not used to it, didn't you?

Yes, I was shocked because we have had the on-going battler of plants here. He mows down a muscadine vine, I fuss. He mows down a cedar tree just starting out and 1 foot tall, I fuss. I think I'm winning the battle and he's throwing up the white flag. But he wins in that much area of the yard that he doesn't have to mow.
I think he likes all the flowers too! They are pretty.

@Nakitakona He sees he is fighting a losing battle. I'm trying to save all the native plants here and planting new ones.

@kareng What happened? He's too excited to mow all he could see.

@Tampa_girl7 Can you message me your recipe for the enchilada casserole? I'd love to try it!

Maybe he thought he would teach you a lesson. I am sure if that was it it has back fired on him.

@wolfgirl569 Yep and here I would have to worry about root rot.

He didn't think I would "hang" with it but I actually enjoy it very much! I think he knew I'd want and need more space again next year! Heck I'm ready to do my fall planting...or rather in planning stage.
He did save himself some trouble by getting it over with now.

@kareng He might as well do it all now. I enjoy the garden most years. The real wet ones are the ones I hate. It makes keeping the weeds out very hard.

Tell hubby to come visit my Home Depot. We have about 150 pallet loads of top soil sitting out in our parking lot. We'll gladly sell him a few bags! lol
Glad to hear you're expanding the garden. You're probably going to enjoy all that toiling, even though it may seem like work.

I do enjoy it. The last garden I had I did all by myself. It was therapy for me after my dad passed away. I really enjoyed it as it brought back memories of when I was a kid and helped my grandfather in the garden. I do believe I got my love for gardening from my grandfather. It will be a lot easier now that I have a tiller to get it all going.

My hubby is slowly giving in on me and my plants! His parents made him weed their garden and flower beds and he got a whipping whenever he didn't so he hasn't liked flower beds and has never helped set them up and worked them since we have been married. I had a lovely lily bed, amarylilis, and iris all at our old house that I made and took care of. He should know I mean business!!

So far it is looking good. I just have a row of tomatoes that doesn't look like they are going to sprout. They were old and I just decided to try them. I have several other kinds of tomatoes planted already. So we will have plenty tomatoes!
