Saucer Sized Magnolia Blooms

Have been out in the yard most of the afternoon. The weather has been beautiful. The sun finally came out. I noticed the Magnolia tree is blooming. This one is called a Saucer Magnolia. The blooms are actually the size of a saucer. Bigger than my hand. Snapped this photo to show you the blooms. And they come in different colors. I prefer the white ones. They look nice with the dark shiny leaves. The tree is evergreen. I get to see these green leaves year round. And they are so fragrant. The birds are attracted to these blooms. I saw hummingbirds around the tree earlier.

@CarolDM I think they are beginning to dry up but when they are in full bloom there is nothing prettier. Yours are gorgeous.

I remember the first month I moved to Memphis, Tennessee, and was overwhelmed with the perfume aroma throughout the city---yes, it turned out all the magnolias were in bloom---fell in love with Memphis then and there!

Stunning photo! I've only seen one Magnolia. It was very old and huge and also had white flowers. The scent of the blooms was unlike anything else. Wonderful!

Beautiful flowers ! Where I live,there are a few kinds of Magnolia as ornamental plant,but haven't seen the Saucer Magnolia.
