COVID-19/Business Updates for Baltimore City, Maryland

I'm going to TRY not to make this too lengthy because I don't talk too much about the pandemic on here, plus I really want to put my laptop away and relax. I just thought making a post would be easier than repeating myself in multiple comments (as it does come up in some discussions).
So our Mayor did a live stream (I'm not sure why his press conferences aren't televised but whatever).
The rate of those testing positive has gone from 21% to 17%. They want to drop to under 10%, but at least this is a start.
We're still NOT ready to start phase one of reopening. I think we're the only jurisdiction in Maryland that hasn't started phase one. However, our Mayor is allowing curbside retail pick-up starting tomorrow, as well as outdoor fitness classes for 10 people or less. This allows more businesses to open. You still cannot go inside the non-essential stores, but people need to work to pay the bills, so at least this is a start.
Anyways, here is to hoping we can SAFELY move to phase one at some point. I'm going to wrap this up so I can go relax. I finished my work a bit ago, but I was catching up on a few things.
You all have a good night/morning, stay safe and take care. :)

That's good it's declining and stores are at least doing curbside pick up.
We're starting to open. I get my hair cut on Friday, the church is back in session on Sunday with two services instead of one for social distancing, and I'm back in the pool on Monday, that too with limited numbers and I needed to sign up for a slot.

Thanks! I think retailers have to apply for a pick-up zone, but again I say... it's a start. I hope the numbers continue to decline. Not only so we can open back up, but so more people can be safe.
I'm glad you're able to start opening, and that places are still taking precautions. How are things where you live?

Lucky you. We should be able to get haircuts soon, too. Our church may aso start up again Sunday with more services, but I will probably keep zooming for a bit longer since I'm almost 80. Just hope I can get my husband to do the same things. Social distancing isn't part of his Serbian DNA.

Going to start relaxing after answering notifications and leaving comments.
Our country is going under general community quarantine starting on Monday. Some business establishments will be open and some public transportation will be on hand as well I particularly think we are not ready and this will only cause the virus to spread some more.

@tammys85 no one wants to get sick but going out of one's home only multiplies the risks of a person from getting infected. Staying home minimizes that risk.

@allen0187 I know. Unfortunately, some people cannot help it. I take all the necessary precautions when I go out.

Whoa, is that even allowed where you live? Like most, if not all, gatherings here need to be 10 people or less, but I know we're in two different countries. If they're not taking it seriously, I wouldn't blame you for resigning. Your health and well-being isn't worth the risk.

@tammys85 Exactly. I appreciate so much your support. I dont understand them. Are they trying to be heroes or something.

@yoalldudes No problem. If they want to be heroes, they wouldn't ask a group of 30 people to stay inside one space during a pandemic. Is the place large enough for you all to social distance?

That is good that the rate of positives have dropped - but sorry not enough yet! That is good that curbside retail pick up can start...that is good for businesses and for people to be able to go back to work.

@MommyOfEli2013 I hope so; people need to work. They need to be safe, but they also need to work. Right. I guess they were hoping to do everything 2wks at a time.

Thank you. At least it's starting to improve. I just hope things continue to improve. Yeah, they need to apply for curbside, so hopefully they're approved and given a zone asap. I totally get the precautions but some have been out of work and having issues with unemployment for almost two months now. That's too long when they're taking care of children, paying bills, etc.

@tammys85 Well hopefully they can get that done quick and get approved fast. Best of luck to them all! Yes....that is a lot of time for people to be out of work. And to think when it all started they said "14 days to stop the spread" - and here some people are 2 months or more later still in lockdown.

Best of luck to you all in Baltimore and I hope it all turns out well. This reminded me of this song

Thanks! I hope so too. I THINK the numbers are getting better. Between Memorial Day and the protests, let's see what happens. But I do think I saw that our statewide positive cases have declined, so hopefully that includes Baltimore. I've noticed our Mayor tends to update on Tuesday and Thursdays, so we'll see if he makes one tomorrow.
