For me easy-open cans are not easy to open...

So now many of the canned goods are made with an easy-open lid. You just pull on that thingy (whatever that's called) and boom your can is ready to eat. No need for a can opener of any kind. Quick and hassle-free. Not in my case. I always have a hard time opening those kinda cans. Sometimes I get lucky and after lots of trying I am able to fully remove the lid. Others times not the case. I either have to ask hubby for help or, if he is not around, try to use a manual can opener from the days of the Soviet Union, to do the rest, if the modern can opener doesn't work. Or I end up leaving it halfway removed and have hubby take it off when he gets home, as was the case today. I guess they did this to prevent people from cutting themselves but in my opinion you are more likely to cut yourself trying to pull that thing all the way off the can.

Ring-pull can opener
You need to invest in one of these simple gadgets. It's called a ring-pull can opener and Amazon have them but they are also available in many cook shops and grocery stores.

Hmmm.... never seen one anywhere nor heard of it. Thanks for telling me about it. I can just imagine myself trying to use that think and it not working in my favor.

@lovebuglena I've seen those. Would be a good investment. Try Amazon or Walmart.com.

I have trouble with those things too. I pull it up a little, then run a knife under it to pull it up some more.

@lovebuglena Be careful not to cut yourself. Once you pull the ring top up just a little, slide a knife under it and bend the lid up on each side until it will come off.

I tried using a knife a few times. Didn't work out. Maybe I am doing it wrong.

@1creekgirl Sometimes I try to pull the lid off and the thing you pull on comes off.

Sorry you have trouble with those pull-off lids. They can be tricky at times.

What you said is true. I couldn't even lift that ring using my fingers alone. Most of the times, I'd use something to lift the ring from the can and pull it from there. And I don't know if I'm just weak or something. I can't pull that ring off completely from the can leaving me with a half opened can.

It's very frustrating. Sometimes you pull on that thing to lift it up and it just comes off.

Yes it is very true,at least the lid type should be plastic one. It would be nice also healthwise.
