Ugli fruit is also known as the Jamaican tangelo which is a citrus fruit which is a cross between an orange or tangerine and a grapefruit. The name is a variation of the word "ugly" and it refers to the rough, wrinkled greenish-yellow rind. The ugli fruit is usually slightly larger than a grapefruit and has fewer seeds; and when the fruit is ripe, the light green blotches turn orange. It is sourer than an orange and less bitter than a grapefruit.
It can be found in the United States and Europe between November and April and sometimes between July and September.
