My First Time Ever Visiting Such a Page

I go through my Facebook memories. I have been on Facebook for a while and my memories surprise me. I connected with a gentleman back in 2012 and confess that I did not really keep up with his activity. I have been trying to use Facebook for work-at-home purposes. So if most of the people I connected with were not following the same pursuits, often I did not keep up with them. Today my memory was a very nice post the gentleman had created indicating that he was happy to meet me. I realized he was not using Facebook for work purposes so I clicked back to his timeline to see what he had been up to. Sadly he had passed away. But this was my first time ever seeing a Remembrance page. His profile had been left there by his family and friends. It says: Remembering (Name of Person) We hope people who love (Name of Person) will find comfort in visiting his profile to remember and celebrate his life. Isn't that nice? I think it's so sweet. But to be honest I am going to tell my kids to delete all of my social media profiles. The main ones: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. I never had intentions of leaving those profiles online after I was gone. What about y'all? Anybody given any thought to this?

Oh wow, that gave me chills. How nice of the family to do that.

It was nice because ... in this online world people you cross paths with seemingly disappear! You find out about their passing in such awkward ways. The Remembrance Page makes it plain why you haven't seen them in a while.

I saw that in my news feed from you. Sad when someone you know passed away but you don't even know about it until years later.

Yes. The other people that have found out about were because I found a post on the timeline of another friend. Not a Remembrance Page.

That really came as a shock to you ! I have no intention of doing that either.

Yeah. It was a shock. He was a nice guy. But we didn't interact a lot because I was always blogging, sharing in groups and doing stuff like that.

Very nice of you to think of us and ease our minds. Hope we won't see your brother for a long time.

I did not even know Facebook did this. It's nice for those who want it. Now that I know they do this, I check pages of friends I know have not been feeling well. I'm hoping NOT to find a Remembrance Page.

I've seen that done before. I am wondering if someone else can delete without the password?? That is my initial thought.

That was nice of his parents to do that for him. How sad for the family.

It's nice. But I will still tell my kids not to do it.
