Did you ever get an idea for a book to read from another book?

I hadn't been paying that much attention to Stephen King in recent years as I haven't really enjoyed his recent writing, so I was reading another book and they were talking about his book Dr. Sleep which is apparently a sequel to the Shining. I don't even think I heard about this, at the time, or if I did I forgot about it. Did you ever get an idea for a book from another book, or read Dr. Sleep?

I haven't read Dr. Sleep, but I think there is a movie / serial on netflix about it. I have, however, gotten an idea about another book from a book. Sometimes the books I read involve name drops for other authors.

Yeah, I saw it had been made into a film. I will look for it on NF. I started watching kind of a strange one last night..the Killing of a Sacred Deer..which sounded interesting and has Collin Farrell and Nicole Kidman in it. It has been pretty good..although odd.

@snowy22315 I think it's on netflix, but I could be wrong. I haven't watched netflix in a few days. Might do that sometime today, but only if I get off my lazy behind and get a few things done that needs doing.

I used to read his books and discovered a load in my younger son's room recently. I may read them when I'm desperate for another book. I'm not a fan of his, but I gotten ideas for other books to read from other authors.

Yes, she mentions quite a few books and novels in this, but most of them she doesn't seem to have a high opinion of, Not that she necessarily does of Doctor Sleep, but others in the book seem to like it. By the way, I am reading "YOU" which I know you are also a fan of...it's a little raunchy..but fairly entertaining.

Yes, I have. I store away little bits of information about certain things and it comes in handy in my writing.

They were just talking today about an author who includes a lot of books in her book. I might read her just to see the books she includes.

I didn't read Dr. Sleep, and I can't even remember if one book inspired me to read another, I don't think so

Haven't even heard of Dr Sleep but I haven't read King in awhile. I think the last book I read by him was Mr Mercedes. I like authors who keep characters in books they write so I'm already familiar with them.

I have read several Stephen King books, I like science fiction books of course within some normal limits hahaha but really if when you read a book that has similarity or brings up stories that resemble another theme of a book I tend to look for it and read it.
