Happy Friday! And no surprise Friday! What can I say? I can’t be unpredictable all the time. So, with probably no surprise whatsoever, I’m happy to present to you today’s song from my list of favorites that have the word “home” in the title.
#8: Homeward Bound - Simon & Garfunkel
Actually, that’s a good song for today. I’m homeward bound myself (back in Kentucky right now). With the rain and who-knows-what after dark I didn’t dare try to make it home last night, so I’ll do what yesterday’s song title said (take the long way home) to get back in my very hard memory foam bed and ease my backache.
But enough of that. Let’s talk about the song. There’s a railway station (Widnes) in England that has a marker designating it the inspiration for this song. “I’m sitting in a railway station, got a ticket for my destination.”
That lonely moment brought about one of the great songs in Simon & Garfunkel’s career.
