Ted Roach and Jennifer Lingoni are lucky to be alive after they decided to take a chance to take a boat ride to go get some shrimp and crabs despite being waned that Tropical Storm Cristobal would pass by the Slidell area later that day.
The couple rode a 20 foot yellow skiff boat left Salt Bayou when during their trip the motor of their boat died.
The couple survived by sharing a life jacket and clinging to wood debris in Lake Pontchartrain through the day and evening until they were able to get to Goose Point where they went to rest at a camp near Bayou Lacombe when a Good Samaritan who was in his home who contacted the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office to take them home safe and sound.
Many of the rescue teams in the Louisiana area tried their best to locate them during the time that they were in the lake but they were not able to rescue them.
Hopefully both Ted and Jennifer have learned their lesson not to mess with Mother Nature again.

@Deepizzaguy I would have thought anyone, whether local or stranger, would know not to take chances during a storm.

I have lived in Louisiana since 1978. It amazes me that some people like to roll the dice when a storm comes to their area and they do not heed the warnings from the authorities..

I hope so since some people in Louisiana decide to take chances to defy orders from the authorities to either leave their home or stay away from the streets falls on deaf ears.

@SHOHANA Some people just do not seem to understand that they are not supposed to gamble with their lives during a natural disaster.

I hope so as well since I am sure they were warned by the authorities not to go outside their homes during the storm.

You are correct since Lake Pontchartrain is a huge lake since I used to live in the South Shore.
