Obscure Titles Not in the Song: Pretzel Logic (#11)

Give me time, and I’ll make everyone upchuck! Instead of the country fans, today’s non-hit takes aim at @NJChicaa , who just loves this band (and that is sarcasm). The band’s name, you know, but you’ve probably never heard this one unless you own their albums (or remember the days of FM rock when they’d play this). Here it is! #11: Pretzel Logic - Steely Dan I guess they wore themselves out saying “Bodhisattva” at the end of that song on the previous album and decided they needed a break from mentioning a song’s title! A song about who knows what (that’s one of the great things about Steely Dan songs: they’re about as open to interpretation as songs can be), but reported by co-writer and lead vocalist Donald Fagen to be about time travel (that was a popular theme in those days, it didn’t start with Back to the Future), the song with no mentions of pretzels or logic became the title of the Dan’s third album. And this wasn’t their only time at failing to mention the title in the song: “Kings” (plural) and “The Caves of Altamira” also don’t mention the title (although king, singular, is in “Kings”). Enjoy a great one from a great band. (Sorry, NJ Chic.) Pretzel Logic Written by Walter Becker and Donald Fagen Recorded by Steely Dan From Pretzel Logic, 1974 Where did you get those shoes:
Pretzel Logic by Steely Dan With lyrics "Yes I'm dying to be a star and make them laugh Sound just like a record on a phonograph" All rights to artists, publ...

Look at the bright side: do you know how many Rush songs don’t have the title in the song?? (Neither do I because I feel the same way about them that you do! )

I always respected Steely Dan, and was glad when they came on the radio (they're actual musicians!), but I never got totally "into them."

I know Steely Dan. I like the music for this song. To be honest I never paid attention to the words.

I have never met Napoleon; but I plan to find the time....not so bad. It doesn't hurt my head or make me want to puke.

i listened to Steely Dan all the time (they were played heavily on our local station) love their stuff. Pretzel Logic is a great work of The two although Deacon Blues remains my personal favorite.
