Dog in the crowd

I always wonder what makes a dog identify their owner among the 100 people around even without smelling.
All the dogs I cared for had this uncanny ability to identify me from a distance and start wagging their tail even when I am not seen to them. My dogs seem to have recorded everything of my personality. My voice, my cough, my sneeze, my style of laughing, my walking, my various moods and facial expression.
But surprisingly dogs are know to have only a good sense of smell . There is lot more then that.
Do you agree?
Have you had such an experience ?

@sarik1 How did your dog find you out. By seeing you from a distance or hearing your voice.

@jayanth_77 I would agree with that too. My horse could always spot me in a crowd too.

I agree dog's sense of smell is excellent. But the point I am making is; if you have a dog then your dog will recognise you even in a crowd by your sound and by just seeing you from a distance.

I don't have like those experience but I strongly says Dogs have good identity skills based on smell. So they must identity their owner correctly lol.

Smell is important but they also identify people by the sound and physical appearance.

yes smell is important but they also use eyes and ears too recognise a known person. Hearing seems more used when people are far away. Smell is a final confirmation of identity.

Dogs don't need training to identify their master. They seem to recognise their owner coming just by listening to the different sounds and even by seeing them coming from a distance. They don't need to go close and smell.
