A person who was fishing in the Colorado River in Austin Texas had the shock of his life on Thursday afternoon when the floodgates were opened at the Longhorn Dam which swept him down the river where he was trapped at the dam which required him to be rescued. Thanks to a concerned eyewitness who contacted 911 to report the incident, the Austin Fire Department and the Austin EMS arrived at the scene of the incident. Thanks to the teamwork of the firefighters and EMS employees, they used a throw bag to get the fisherman out of the river into dry ground. The fisherman did not suffer any serious injuries and was not taken to a local hospital since he was just shaken up from his experience fishing near a barrier to hold back water. I am sure that the fisherman will think twice before trying to catch fish near a water barrier in the future.

Is the fisherman unaware of the schedule of floodgates opening? He should know it than to put his life in danger.

I do not think that the fisherman knew about the danger of being near a water barrier when the floods came.

@Nakitakona You are right since the water rush came all of a sudden most likely without being warned of the danger to come from the authorities.

@Deepizzaguy Probably he knew it but he was carried with the interest of fishing that he almost forgot the impending danger.

I'm glad he's safe and the rescue was successful. I'm sure he will think twice about fishing there in the future.

Do not mess around water barriers is a good rule.
