witnessing the partial solar eclipse

my brother was telling us that a lunar eclipse will occur this afternoon. I corrected him, saying that would be solar eclipse because it is day time. 15 minutes ago, he went out then said casually,"The eclipse is happening now". I immediately took my X-ray film plate and used that to see the eclipse; it should protect my eyes from the glare of the sun. it is cloudy, but I waited to see it. The moon's shadow did not cover the whole of the sun. I and my brother stayed outside and tried to record or take pictures of the eclipse but we were not able to because we only have our phones' cameras and there is no filter, even though I tried with my X-Ray plate. It is still there. I am so happy to witness this phenomenon again. With the lunar eclipse that happened I think early this month and at dawn, it is a joy imagining I am with nature. have you witnessed the eclipse? How was it?

Me and my father went to the backyard to see it but we were not able to watch the eclipse. We went inside at once because my mother was cooking pancit for father's day celebration... =)

ading, we used my x-ray film plate to see it. my late parents also said we can put water in a basin and we can see the eclipse through the water.

@ridingbet Here it is the map of the states that could see the eclipse, as you can see not in Europe and not in north and south America.

maybe only here in Asian countries. in Twitter site, there were many photos of the eclipse from India, Thailand, and HongKong.

I've witnessed two solar eclipses in my life. It was eerie when the sun was covered by the moon even though it lasted only for a short time.

@ridingbet The solar eclipses I watched didn't lead to total darkness, only to a light one. But the situation was eerie. There was no wind, not the lightest breeze and the light was so strange that the animals became nervous. Farmers said that the cows lay down as if they wanted to go to sleep. It only lasted for some minutes and then they got up again. I wonder what the cows thought - in case cows think. :-)

my late mother narrated to us before that she witnessed a total solar eclipse. during that time, the usually very bright sky turned dark, that vehicles had to switch on their headlights, and they (with my father) could see the stars. it lasted for a few minutes only, she said before.

yes, the hotness of the day was not so, because even though the sun's location was not cloudy, the heat was not burning our skin.

the highest visibility for the philippines is where you are the northern part of the country, especially in batanes. i just went out 4.30 because it suddenly grew dark and windy, and i remembered the eclipse.. but i can't see it because there were lots of gray clouds and the sun sets behind the house. now i hear thunder. the peak is supposed to be at 4:22 and will end at 5:31. that was a good idea to use the x-ray to protect your eyes.

Solar eclipse
It's not the shadow of the moon. It's the moon itself that blocks the direct ray of the sun to the earth.

it was cloudy, but the sun occasionally peeped through the clouds, and we were able to witness it despite the clouds trying to obstruct the view.
