Sports drinks, yea or nay?

I have never been one to drink "sports drinks" since I tasted Gatorade once in my extreme youth. Bleah! But I know that they are good for when you need hydration after being sick, etc., so I decided to try to find one I could enjoy and stomach. My tummy does not like most artificial sugars and especially not aspartame.
In Japan we have three main types: Aquarius, Pocari Sweat, and assorted types with the word Water in them. Aquarius I tried once, not a bad taste but if I remember correctly it has aspartame. Pocari Sweat, I couldn't get past the name and have never tried it. After a bout with (let's just say) intestinal problems last January, I decided I probably should find one that I could drink, and keep it in my emergency cupboard. At that time I had some Kirin Lemon and some Sprite which I used, but maybe a sports drink would be better.
Last week, then, I found something called Green Dakara. Dakara is a sports drink much like the others, but this new model appears to be mainly natural fruit juices (like 0.0005% or so) with nothing in it to upset me. So I bought a 500 ml bottle to see how it went down.
I just tried it after a long bike ride. Not bad. Tastes palely like fruit, nice, and I didn't get an immediate negative tummy reaction. So there we are. Maybe Green Dakara is it. (Dakara is a play on words in Japanese: Karada means Body and dakara means because, or for the sake of.)
Do you drink sports drinks, rehydration ion drinks or other things than water? Not fair mentioning... uh... adult drinks since they dehydrate you.

@m_audrey6788 I don't know why I am talking sports drinks when I actually do no sports! I ride my bicycle to and from work and to shopping, so I cover several kilometers.

I don't drink any of these but I can understand that if you've been ill, they would be helpful. I'm glad you've found one you like. There was once a lot of negative press about aspartame.

@petatonicsca A local woman did a whole lot of campaigning against aspartame at one time.

Besides the negative press, my body also gave aspartame negative press, so I'm glad I never used it much.

I used to drink Gatorade and Powerade before I started to drink water.

@Deepizzaguy I drink it out of the tap. I do have a filter on my kitchen tap. Otherwise it is not so great.

Me too, I don't do sports. Just getting around doing my normal things on my bicycle is plenty.

That's good for your budget and also for your figure. I was brought up to drink only water, occasionally orange juice. My daughter is bringing up her kids the same way.
