An acoustic guitar song I just recorded. I hope you enjoy it.

This is an Alex DeGrassi tune I recorded earlier this week in a friend's garage studio. If you're familiar with my YouTube videos in which I usually sing, this will be something completely different. The guitar is in an odd tuning (DADEAD) and I finger pick--no flat pick involved. My friend and I recorded some stuff earlier this week that will air on an "internet radio" station this Friday afternoon, from 4:30 to 6 PM. The show is there to earn money for a local club owner who had to shut down because of a rent increase. Most of us in the "Martinez Music Mafia" have played there, and so have some really famous people. I hope you enjoy the music. It was a first take, so its not quite perfect, but the overall feel of the song comes through.

Nice job and like the scarf as well. Nothing like a good acoustic song.

Thanks, Carol. Yes, I'm a good boy and wear the scarf over my mouth and nose when I go shopping.

@TheHorse thanks for the guidance. I have seen it now. You remind me of my friend who is a guitar wizard. His last recording is a Christmas album.

@Alexandoy I have a cool Christmas album by an excellent Canadian singer, songwriter and guitarist. His name is Bruce Cockburn. But I doubt many people here, other than @FourWalls, have heard of him. Maybe I'll do a post about him some day.

@TheHorse there are many good guitarists here. One is named RJ Jacinto who owns a radio and tv station. The rich guy plays well and he rents a bistro for his stage with the drinking audience.

Heh. DeGrassi is brilliant to me. As I joke with my friends, "I just leave out the parts that I'm not good enough to play." Thank you!

@divalounger The garden sounds like fun. I planted some new tomatoes and corn today. My sunflowers and green beans are looking good.

@1creekgirl I hope you enjoy it. 20 years ago, I was really into alternative tunings and gentle Irish-sounding stuff, especially Alex DeGrassi and Richard Thompson. Then I got bitten by the bluegrass bug, and started playing a lot in standard tunings. The virus, and the lack of gigs, gave me time to get back to my "roots." I hope you find it pretty. It's a "first take," so it's not perfect, but I still like it.

So you’re a fan of DADEAD? Who’d you prefer o lead vocals, Weir or Garcia? Amazing, but then I can’t even play in EBGDAE tuning.....

I like both. But I guess I prefer Garcia because Hunter's lyrics are so evocative.

Do you find it hard to adapt when you change the tuning? Nice playing thanks. Our double bass is on the other side of our piano. :)

Not really. When I get into an alternative tuning, I "jam" in that tuning to re-familiarize myself with it.

@TheHorse well, since I play piano, I mostly exposed to classical. But then, I exposed to jazz too. But also can play pop songs, gospel songs

Wonderful as usual. Very soothing. I wanted to learn how to play the guitar; but my dog at the time couldn't handle it and barked constantly.

No, I haven't put this one on YouTube. I may record a cleaner version and post it there. This was a first take. Its supposed to be "organic" and "spontaneous."
