Well, part of my walmart order just arrived and now I am the proud owner of two new skeins of yarn. I'm going to start playing with that in just a bit, but before I do...
It's been awhile since I've made a discussion of my favorite quotes from a book. These were highlighted on my kindle so that I could write them in my quote journal later. I had to access them via the computer, but am glad that I am able to do that.
Anyway...
And yet, no man could live a day ahead of death for all the years he had without gaining the sense to know when things were wrong. Page 51 Bellewether By Susanna Kearsley
Draw me not without cause; sheathe me not without honor. Page 52
Wars lay easier upon the conscience, Lydia decided, when you could not see the faces of the people you were fighting. And it was vastly easier to hate a man when you’d not learned his Christian name, or pried into his private thoughts and learned that he was human. Page 87
Maybe he was seeking to remind himself—remind them all—that while he was a prisoner at the mercy of his keepers, far from home and from his purpose, he had not yet ceased to be a man. Page 188
“My grandmother,” he told me, “had a theory about doors. Whenever things were going wrong, she’d have my stepdad come hang a new door for her. He’d tell her she was nuts, that doors were doors, but she’d say no door ever opened exactly the same as the last one, the new one was always that little bit different, and anyway it never did any harm to walk through a new door now and then, and see where you end up.” Page 304
I think the last quote is one of my favorites.

That is an interesting door idea!
I guess I have found perspective just by doing things differently. An example, sitting in a different place during staff meetings. Seems I listened in a more focused way. It also shook up others because I took someone's usual seat
I never realized that we all sat in the same places each time until my mom said to sit somewhere different.

Yes I thought the door idea was an interesting one too. The same can be said about rearranging / reorganizing things. Sometimes that makes all the difference to a person's mood and perspective.

@paigea I would have put masking tape on the floor to indicate where I wanted the desk, but then I imagine that would have been pulled up as well. I don't know, I only said that because I can vaguely recall masking tape on the floor of a classroom when I was a student. I don't even recall which year.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Absolutely!
I carefully arranged my students' desks to encourage good behaviour. Sometimes the cleaning staff moved them and put them back differently. I would leave that arrangement and see what happened

@sarik1 Ah yes, I agree. It's something we should all do. Not with our doors, but with our possessions, rearranging them I mean.

A lot of interesting quotes, that perhaps apply to us as well.

I like writing down those quotes that speak to me in that way.

The last quote is definitely a good one. Stay safe and healthy.

I like the last quote too, though I have heard it but never quite like that.

Yeah, I've heard it before somewhere too, but not to that extent.

I thought so too. I love keeping a quote journal from books I've read. It makes me want to go back and read them, but there can be some sage advice in them too.

Already crocheted it up, so now I need to buy more
I need to decide just what color I want to go next on this blanket anyway...
Yeah there were perhaps one or two other quotes I could have saved but didn't.

Right. I think we should all do something similar. Maybe not as drastic as a door, but to keep things fresh in our lives so that we aren't so stressed.
