I had my surgery, I just got home Friday

Sorry , all my notifications are gone, so I have to pull up discussions, this will be a bit long but detailed. I went to the ER for the third time on June 22, and was released on June 26. I went to a different ER , the one where my urologist works at. I had a hard time getting out there as it is not close by. When you are in pain , you go to the nearest ER but they were not helping me . I arrived and they admitted me, I was dehydrated and exhausted, they reviewed the CT scan on disc, I brought with me, and they seen two stone. My urologist was on duty, and said I would have surgery on Tuesday or Wednesday they wanted to get a lot of water in me as I have not been able to hold anything down. On Tuesday the cancelled the surgery, but on Wednesday the machine was down, and not able to use. On Thursday they got me in , and did two different, stone surgeries. After the surgery I was very ill , so they kept me another day. Upon my arrival to the hospital they check my skin, they were checking for signs of covid, the searching on my body was a bit invasive but they know more about Covid, than we do. They wanted to do a covid test on me, but it was denied they did not feel I was a risk When I went to surgery , they asked if I had a covid test I told them no. They were very mad, the staff in surgery area, they were saying now they are being exposed to covid, I felt out of place, there and I just wish they discussed this out of my presence. After surgery I was back in my room, when i sat up i felt something in my mouth. During the surgery they place something in my mouth for the surgery, they some how chipped my tooth. So now waiting to see what they are going to do about it. I have the pieces of the tooth in a jar. I feel good, much better, just worn out. I finally have medicine to help prevent future stones, but really not a guarentee. Glad to be home. One thing I forgot to mention, when I woke up from surgery, the nurse whispered in my ear, to get tested for covid.. I asked the nurse on my floor about it and she says during surgery, you could most likely get covid.. I don't know what to think, they wouldn't give me covid test before the surgery. So why after? makes no sense.

Thank you for sharing your experience. May I ask what surgery you underwent, is it a kidney surgery to remove the stones?

Yes two kidney surgeries, cystoscope right uteroscopy, stone. Stone extraction. Lithotripsy, with stent. As it is worded.

@CookieMonster46 aw, the stent is an old style of treating kidney stone surgery. My wife was prescribed that but my wife's sister who is a nurse disagreed so we changed doctors. This last urologist was the one who recommended the Sambong pills, it is from a herb that dissolves kidney stone.

I feel alright, better than I did before, just a little tired, my back is still a bit sore, they moved the IV in my arm several times, so I have bruising still, but should be fine.

That nurse was probably telling you to go somewhere outside of the hospital to get tested for COVID after you get released. There are a lot of places offering testing now, and most of it is free if it's not covered by your health insurance. Remember, hospitals are where people go to get sick, so there's a good chance you were exposed to COVID while you were there. I'm glad you got through everything in one piece, although it sounds like there were several hiccups along the way.

You are not kidding, I don't plan on going back anytime soon. It was quite an ordeal, and still haven't heard from them about my tooth.

@moffittjc For some reason, I knew I would have this problem,I really didn't think they would reach out to me. But I am trying to get a hold of someone in the office, who will help.

@CookieMonster46 That's very unprofessional that you still have not heard back from them about your tooth.

It seems there is no logic sometimes with medicos and health care. I guess it's not easy to get a test if they don't feel you are at risk. I hope you recover quickly from your ordeal.

Well, it's their fault they should have tested you first anyway! How could they get mad on something it wasn't your fault to begin with. Hope you make a good recovery. Makes me scared of going to the hospital whatsover.

You certainly went through a lot. I don't know what is up with the Covid testing. I'm surprised to hear they did the surgery without knowing whether you had it or not. Anyway, it's over, and I hope you heal quickly and get well soon. The worst is over.
