Is elderberry good for your immune system?

Japan

I have a friend who grows elderberries and makes and sells juice. She is totally convinced that elderberries will boost your immune system. I read some things online and it seems maybe they can, or rather one of the compounds in them might. It was all very vague though. Does anyone know about elderberries? I have tried some elderberry gummies, and they are very tasty, so even if they don't help my immune system I might enjoy them.

It's really hard to know with some of these things whether they are useful or not. I would think it would be pretty hard to prove a benefit but if you think it's doing you good, then why not use it. My mother had a copper bracelet which was supposed to help her arthritis. As long as she thought it helped, that was all that mattered really.

@petatonicsca It's always good to find candy that might do you good.

In my case, I think they taste good so I can consider them like candy that might do me good.

I have read online before that elderberry has a lot of health benefits. Just check online.

So far the evidence is pretty inconclusive unless you're reading from someone selling it.

I think we are seeing a consensus here that hotter countries do not seem to have them. Do you have raspberries or blackberries? They look a little like those.

So you do have them in the Philippines? I know elderberries grow wild in some cooler and dryer areas in North America.

@petatonicsca I think I saw them somewhere in an island where we were assigned before. Unless they just look similar, then maybe I was wrong:)

I found everything from "this will cure you of anything" to "it's safe but we don't know if it actually does any of these things".
