Our mailman won't put mail in my hand

United States
June 29, 2020 3:34pm CST
I was told as she climbed the stairs, she can't take my mail, unless I place at the mailbox. They are not allowed to hand you mail , it must go in the mail box. A lot has changed since covid. I had a letter going out, and she said leave it on my box, or her vehicle window .So I left on the box, she will come back when I am not outside, and take the letter.

Yeah, I guess it's good to "do the right thing."

@TheHorse But yet at grocery stores, they want to not stay 6 ft and crowd you. It all depends on who you are dealing with and how serious they take it.

well, I thought about it and think, alright, I don't hand her the mail but she is still touching what I touched, by me placing on the mail box.

@CookieMonster46 Exactky. When I go shopping, I realize that I am touching (and sometimes buying) things that others have touched. I do wash my hands when I get home.

Yup. Some of fast food here also they don't want to give my hand. They give the food through tray.

@CookieMonster46 I don't have idea too. Maybe the bacteria on the surface are less than what's on their hand? Yikes, no idea

It's all for the safety of everyone, I guess she is just following orders. So sorry that all of us need to bear a little bit of sacrifice if we want to win the fight against this virus.

Everyone has become so much more careful and think eventually we might all be afraid of even touching one another on the arm.

That's a bit silly as the germs could still be on the letter - but I guess she is wearing gloves so not so silly.

I could be standing out side even before covid, and our mail person wont even wave. So I know he wont be putting it in my hand even when this is all over with.

If your hands aren't touching, I wonder why she can't hand you the mail. That seems a bit overboard.
