Voltaire's Rant in 2020

"Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities," Voltaire (1694-1778)
I'll have a go with my own near-limerick in today's slang, 2020. I hope Voltaire forgives me.
Here it goes...
Bizarre Miss Tartuffe Coot resembles a wonky
She coots in the mire, amok and grumpy.
Unbeknownst to her flock 'f moronics
She makes them swear by her idiotics
Lackwit Miss Tartuffe Coot in fantastical
schmuck'ry.
Picture: Original drawing by my son.

If you read French, this is the exact quote from Voltaire
"Tant que les gens croient aux absurdités, ils continueront à commettre des atrocités"
that translate
"Until people believe absurdities, they will continue to commit atrocities"
as you see it is a bit different...

Thank you, Anna. The concept of committing atrocities, I guess, is that their acts and belief system become so bizarre, absurd, and irrational.

@everwonderwhy Those who commit atrocities are convinced that they do nothing wrong, it is horrible.

@LadyDuck Yes. It is horrible that they have no knowledge and understanding about living.

Reminds me of elementary teachers telling us beliefs are facts.

@yoalldudes So sorry about the devastating, atrocious effects of these kinds of cultish so-called teachers. It's terrifying.

Thank you. He is very talented. I just asked him to draw a coot and donkey (wonky) combined for my satirical limerick. :-D
