My Life - Books, Reading, Writing

When I started the year of reading and gave myself a goal of the number of books I was hoping to read, I was very conservative. I thought one a month was realistic. So my goal was 12. Half way through the year and I am already at 19. I just finished the Linwood Barclay thriller "A Noise Downstairs". I promised I was going to move on to book two of "I Am Not Met" which is "I Am Me". But I'm not ready. I think after some deep reading, and then a thriller, I'm ready for a romance. So Lori Foster it is. The review for "A Noise Downstairs" will come tomorrow... or maybe tonight." (I always finish books late at night because that's when I do most of my reading). Honestly... I should be working on my novel, shouldn't I? I did once this week - 3 chapters. But I am easily discouraged. Hopefully I'll get back to it before the week is out.

Have you read 'never look back'?

There are hundreds of books entitled "Never Look Back". Linwood Barclay has a book called "Never Look Away" which I have indeed read. Of Note, when I want to title my book I would research it to see if there are other books with that title. I want my title to stand out not be one of hundreds of others with the same title.

@patgalca ouch! Sorry! Yup that's the one. Ouh, I usually don't remember title good, but if I see the book I can remember it.

I am easily distracted if there is something that I'm finding a bit hard.

That's why I like books with short chapters. I keep saying "I'll read just one more chapter" but because they're so short it's easy to say, "Okay, maybe one more."

@JudyEv Because I do most of my reading at night, I will check the next chapter to see how long it is to see if I can read another one before going to bed. Needless to say books with short chapters keep me up pretty late. But throwing a long chapter in the middle of a book helps me to find a stopping point.

Does reading novels helped you in writing your book? I hope you finalize your book for publishing.

I have read a couple of novels that the writing made me realize something I was doing wrong or wasn't doing that I should be doing. So yes, it does help.

Yes, but I am so close to polishing my novel for submission to agents. I should really focus on that.
