Francis Gonzalez is being called a heroine after she followed the advice of her daughter Francheska Ortiz to intervene on the behalf on a young man who was ready to jump off of the Church Street Bridge in Lowell Massachusetts last month. Francis who works as a volunteer with a suicide prevention group took action to stop her auto when to speak with the young man who was going to take his own life since he was suffering from depression. Francis had the assistance of an eyewitness who called the authorities to report the incident that one young man was ready to jump off the bridge into the river below. Francis was able to talk to young man for a period pf 20-30 minutes before the authorities who were able to convince the young man not to take his own life and seek help. Francis gave the young man a hug before he went to seek help for his mental problems that he is facing. I am sure that the young man who wanted to end his life that there are ways to enjoy life despite the hard time we are facing now.

@sophie09 That is a good question since the news report did not mention if the young man's parents are alive or not.

You are correct since Francis did not intend to travel over the Church Street Bridge. She believes that God sent her there to save a life.
