If you're to decide...?

Happy Sunday/Saturday everyone! We had a 26 year old bamboo seat here. Due to its old age, some parts were broken and others were detached so I decided to totally dismantle the seat as the foundation is no longer sturday as it was. However, the components such as the poles are still useful for other purposes and not worth throwing yet because those are really matured bamboos. I think I will cut parts for vases and the longer pole I planned to mount serves as bag, cap, and umbrella hangers. I have difficulty in choosing the color. I am undecided which color to choose since I want to paint it green to have the live bamboo pole effect or just make it neutral. Perhaps I could just varnish the finish product to have a gloss touch. What do you think? Photo is one of the cuts for flower vases.

Not really but the idea will just popped up when the times come like this. If you are to choose color, which one would you choose? You want it neutral or should I need to paint it green? Thanks.

Thank you. I use it the other way and I like it. We can still use some of the things in the house differently.

Maybe I would just varnish them first. I guess you could always paint them at a later date. I'm not sure if you can paint over varnish or not.

I think you have a good suggestion Ms. Judy. This is some sort of test if I really need to paint it with other color. I think that we can still cover the varnish with paint. It's is also easier to change or cover the varnish with other color than to paint and then later you want to remove it because you just want to gloss it. Thank you.

@ZedSmart You might need to sand the varnish so there is a 'roughness' for the paint to stick to.

I have that in mind too when I see the cuts. I think no need to paint it since I also found it at native stores that they no longer put color to decorative and just leave it to their natural colors. I don't know, I'm still undecided...

I agree that it's more suitable color since it will give a gloss finish.
