Have You Ever Cooked Corn on the Cob in the Microwave?

Happy Tuesday Everyone!! it's a beautiful blue sky sunny day here today. The sky is a gorgeous blue and not a cloud to be seen. So here's my question for the day...have you ever cooked fresh corn on the cob in the microwave? I never did until this weekend. We got some nice fresh ears of corn from a local farm and I had seen online somewhere that you can cook it in the microwave. Being the skeptic I am I figured I'd Google it and sure enough it came up many times. All you have to do is take your ears of corn (don't shuck them), place on a microwave safe dish and cook for 3 minutes per ear. Since I was experimenting with two I tried it for 6 minutes. It came out steaming so if you try this be careful when you are removing the husks. I cut off both ends of the corn and the husks basically slid off and no silk attached. It not only was delicious and quick, it saved time from the hassle of preshucking (which is always a mess). So folks, that's my hack for today in case you're going to be having some fresh corn on the cob this summer but you hate shucking and the time it takes to boil. We were enjoying our corn on the cob in less than 7 minutes! Any quick cooking tips you'd like to share?

I had heard that you could do this, but I have never tried it yet. Which is surprising, because I pretty much cook everything in the microwave. I should try it next time I buy fresh corn on the cob.

@Marilynda1225 When I go grocery shopping at the end of this week, I will pick up some corn on the cob and try it out in the microwave. Three minutes you say?

I have not tried to do corn on the cob in the microwave myself, I remember after I got married that my mother used to do it. I know that she put her corn in already husked and I believe that she covered it with plastic wrap. The thought of plastic wrap melting on food to be eaten doesn't appeal to me, so I never asked her anything about the process. You just gave me an idea, I am going to try to go out to a farm this afternoon to see if they have any sweet corn ready yet. I think that I will try to cook it in my instapot, if they have any.

Try it in the microwave. You don't even have to shuck it and in minutes it done, the husk slides off and it's delicious. No pot to wash either. No wrapping in plastic wrap just put the whole ear in husk and all.

Wow that definitely worked way better then I would have expected then. My fiancé usually cooks them on the grill. I’m not a fan of corn on the cob since it is so messy to eat and gets stuck in my teeth.

Yes, and it is really easy to do that way. Supposedly you can even slide the husks off easily. Although I haven't done that.

The husks do slide off easily and no silk stays attached. That was my favorite part aside from it tasting good.

I just shuck it, butter it and eat.

That's what I always did too but I hate the shucking part especially since the silk sticks to it.

I have a time or two. Also on the grill. I still prefer the old way, boiling them. To me they taste better, sweeter. Glad that you liked it done in the microwave.

This is my favorite way to cook corn on the cob!! Found it on Facebook a couple of years ago and have been using this method ever since. I did try cooking it in the Instant Pot, but then you have to clean the pot after use. Using the microwave to cook the corn, you only have a knife to clean up. The corn is hot and delicious!!
