Selling my thrillers / crime / detective novels

I bought / got for free (through vouchers) LOTS of books from the thrift store. Some of you may remember my discussions about that ($xx.xx + $xx.xx ='s discussions). Anyway, I am thinking of selling them on ebay in groups of five, trying to keep the authors together. I may end up just donating them, however, since I got most of them for free.. decisions decisions. I assume I would need to buy boxes (since the packages we get here are so irregular and we can't always just keep boxes) and I don't know whether I want to go to that hassle for something that may not sell. Still.. It would be nice to get a few bucks for something I originally got for free.

I calculated how much it would cost to me to ship books (buy boxes to package and so on), I decided to donate the books I do not want anymore.

That may be what I should do. These were free after all. I can not call the store that I got them from and ask if I can resell there as the number they use is an automated message service.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I will bring some in the "cabin libraries" we have here (build in the old phone booths), I can bring up to 4 books and take 4 that I like, there are 3 booths at walking distance from home.

@LadyDuck We used to have two "little libraries" close by but I know one was taken away, am not sure if the other one is still there. That's also an option I hadn't thought of.

The cost of shipping would probably be too much, don't know how much you could get per book. Hopefully you come to a good and profitable decision

Your right. I'm not sure that I'd make a good profit from it. I feel like I will just donate the books, but first I am going to go by the thrift store and ask if I can sell them back to them for atleast some money. I don't know if I can do that.

@gr8nana6 This is true. It's something for me to think about atleast. There used to be a website somewhat like ebay but you didn't get paid in real cash. You got paid in credits that you could use to buy items from the site. I can't even remember what it was called but I sold a few things that way.

I donate my books to Goodwill, the Salvation Army or the library.

I've donated some that way. Most likely will do the same for these others.

These are genres that I am not really a fan of, but I got them because I might read them. I try to find time to read when I can, I prefer it to television.

Probably, but I have to think of the cost of the boxes and what if no one buys them? Then I've bought boxes for no reason.

@ScribbledAdNauseum sometimes it is easy to tell if a customer is going to make a purchase from the moment they enter the store.

You can get free boxes from the USPS website. I did ebay once selling one book. It cost me more to ship the book than I thought. I did try to sell some other books and got no hits so now I just donate them.

Selling on Ebay can be a lot of hassle. If you dont need the money you would get , donate them.to a thrift store. But getting money for something we get for free is good... Maybe you should sell.them Remember to include postage and packing charge

Right, I was just thinking that if it doesn't sell then I am out the price of buying boxes. So I may just donate them. I'm not selling locally because I'm allergic to humans.
