Thirty Silver Coins, The London Cabbie And Well Missus...

Being at Victoria Coach Station on hardly the best of nights specially in London it can be very forbidding and tremendously cold and steel hearted on all levels. So we were all going our own different ways as we got off the Bus. I love London Taxi Drivers they are always so original every last one of them. This one was asking "does anyone speak French or Spanish please". I shouted up that I speak Spanish and he asked me if I could speak with a young French girl to see if he could get her to understand. Her would be employer in England had left her stranded well sort of saying that she would have to pay for the Taxi which came to a total of thirty British Pounds as the said persoon could not pick her up. Leaving all the whys and the wherefores out of it I spoke with her and she spoke back to me in a French that I understood and she understood me well both of us more or less. Short end to the story we all had a whip around and managed to get thirty pounds together and pay the Taxi Driver bless his heart. Of course it was a very long way out for such a beautiful vulnerable girl to go on her own with no guardian. All of us on the Bus all agreed and the Taxi Driver said "ok darlin, alright luv I will see her safe there and thank you very much all yes Missus". Also thinking of a much loved London Comedian who spoke just like that "well missus, and alright, alright don“t get the wrong end of the stick.". So she did get there safe I presume and I did not regret chipping in and help to pay for her journey there and I wished her in Spanish mucha suerte maja and that was it. Thing was that the said girl was determined to learn English whichever way she could no matter what as she could not speak it or understand it at the time.

That was so nice of you to help her out. There are many fine people who have helped us out on our travels to foreign speaking places. She was a very brave girl to take a job in a foreign country not knowing the language.

I really know what its like to feel on your own in a different country so we both worked it out to get her on her way as it was so terribly cold and lonely for her. Brave very brave to take on such an employer.

She did not speak it or understand it at the time she was coming from France. With the London Cabbie she was very safe and most girls would have gone back home but she did not after all she had travelled a very long journey. Lots of Spanish here that do not speak or understand English the same as I did not speak Spanish before.

@lovinangelsinstead21 well, if i was about to go to another country i'd try to learn language firs or at least speak english, since many people speak it and that would be the easiest way to talk to people.

See, the coins were British Pounds mostly and well the notes as well. It was the young girl left high and dry by her would be employer if you see what I mean for Thrity pieces of Silver although the coins are not silver its the meaning that her employer was not willing to pay her the taxi fee its a kind of betrayal with no honour not caring for the young girls safety.. I myself would have gone back home to France with such an employer as that.

@lovinangelsinstead21 right. By the way pound used to be a measure of silver.

@piyushbhatia1 Where I come from and well other places we would say "sold up the river for thirty pieces of silver" meaning being betrayed for thirty pieces of silver". The weights in England used to made of brass or copper before too did not know about silver. Have not seen that for ages and ages.

Thank you we wanted to get her there in safety it was right in the middle of the countryside where she was supposed to be going. The London Cabbie was very concerned about her safety not a place for such a young girl in fact for anyone but she got there because of her determination to do it.
