Utah County Sheriff's Office deputy John Thomas is happy that his superiors rewarded him for his actions to save a man and a woman who were fleeing a fire after their truck was trapped in a ravine last month.
The couple allegedly started a fire at Saratoga Springs Utah on June 28. When they tried to flee the Knolls fire that forced residents to flee, their truck was stuck in a ravine when they ran around a roadblock.
When the truck caught fire, Deputy Thomas was able to stop the couple from leaving the scene of the fire.
The woman had burns on her body as a result of the fire from the truck. Deputy Thomas was able to get a helicopter to take the injured woman to a hospital where is still being treated for her burn injuries.
The man who drove the truck and allegedly started the fire in that area was charged with trespassing and mischief.
What makes this story so good is that Deputy Thomas insisted that thanks to the teamwork of his fellow officers and the medical team, everything turned out nice in the end.

I'm surprised that the man was only charged with trespassing and mischief. Why not arson? I'm glad they got out OK.

I guess the case is still being investigated at this time.

The couple will think twice before running around a barrier on the road again.
