I still remember, early last March. one government representative said that masks are only for sick people. if you are healthy, no need to wear a mask. masks will not protect you from viruses. he consistently stated it for some time. but because of the increasing number of positive cases, then there is an obligation to use masks for everyone until now. and he now rarely gives statements related to masks.

Mask actually slow it down. It’s like a barrier. It won’t stop all but you pick up the virus form droplets in the air. Someone might not feel sick and still have it which is why it spreads quickly. Where I live in the US my state says any time in a public places you must wear a mask.

I just hope no more Karens or Darens will have a fit when mask is required of them when they enter either Walmart or Costco or any other stores or restaurants.

@baguiojade I’m sure someone will be a Karen or Kevin as we saw. It just helps keep the risk factor lower. My kids don’t like wearing makes and they are children and they even understand wear your mask. Don’t touch anything that your not using or not going to buy.

@ShyBear88 I just can't understand why people are struggling to do what needs to be done ? The target before was to have a flat line, now there's just really a spike when business were somehow encouraged to open. A few days more, children will be going back to school and I wish there's a choice that parents could just home school their child or children. It's such a struggle for working parents with young children. If they choose to homeschool their child they will not be able to focus on their work that they also have to do at home. If they choose to send their child or children back to school, there's that fear that their child or children will get infected. Same with business owners, if they close their shop to protect their employees, the business goes bankrupt and becomes a problem for the owner. SO, no choice, the business owner open the business with all the social distancing inside the store or restaurant and the customers are limited as well as the employees. All these are choosing between 2 evils, if I could say it that way.

U.S. President said once, wearing a mask is voluntary. he also has contradicted Fauci who is the director of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984, about Fauci's take on the virus and wearing a mask. The U.S. is the only developed country that has a lot of deaths, infected people and who are hospitalized. Wearing a mask by everybody will forever be the new normal. I would say, better to be safe than sorry. Good hygiene (taking daily shower not just washing hands), keeping ourselves healthy (healthy food no junk nor fast foods) and exercising will help us to be healthy for a long time. Stay safe. Stay healthy.

@baguiojade I think it is a bit harder for the US as a Nation as states have varying law. Over here it's just England,Scotland, NI and Wales and apart from Scotland we do a very similar thing.

WHO in their initial statement reiterated that mask is not necessary in combating coronavirus infection.

Same here in the UK now from today we have to wear one in shops. Back when this all started I bet if we had all worn one it wouldn't have spread so fast.
