Do You Like To Collect Threads? And Who Should Have The Last Comment?

Threads. What's your longest thread do you have any idea I certainly don't. I can say my longest thread is usually with Anna, Ms LadyDuck here on mylot although there are a few others I can continue a conversation with or begin a new conversation on the same thread like Daddy evil from time to time Jeff Moffitt, dianneN, Paige, and others. I will say it's fairly rare for Anna and I to stop a conversation or a thread although it does happen. Other sites did not think too highly of those that started a new topic on the same thread they wanted each topic to have its own thread. Here on mylot that is not an issue in case you ever wondered. Here we also don't care overall weather others chime in on a thread we're chatting on. If there is anyone that does care I'm sure they will let you know or you can ask either way. Now what I'd like to know is who feels they always need to be the last person to comment or reply on a thread, whether that thread is long or short? I have no preferences on this and once someone gives me mostly mylot code than words I feel they've had enough and I try to resist saying more. It's not always easy because I thought maybe we could talk a little bit longer but I try to keep my mouth shut so to speak. So my question to you all mylotters is do you enjoy threads and do you mind them being long or would you rather them be short and do you feel you need to have the last word or does it not matter to you and how does one know whether it's time for the last word to be said?

I have to agree with you. Thanks for the mention. I enjoy them, especially when they get wild and funny. Lots of good laughs. Kharla and I have had some whoppers, too. Sometimes they run themselves out naturally.

When Barry and Janet did the limericks back and forth that got even more people involved some being a surprise. As far as the mention I've wondered whether it would work without the symbol @ and it does.

@MarshaMusselman I just happened by. I enjoyed those limericks and wish Janet would stop by more often.

@DianneN oh so you were so saying "thanks for the mention" in the post not because it drew you here.

Anna is wonderful at maintaining a thread, and I always enjoy interacting with her here. You mentioned Jeff, he is great at it as well as Carol and Courtney. I suppose that some of it depends upon the relationship that you have with that individual.

@MarshaMusselman Very true, and some people are just naturally better at it and make you feel more at ease and that keeps the thread going.

@Juliaacv I don't know that I make people feel at ease v but I can usually find something else to say or a question to ask to keep it going longer.

That could easily be it too or how long you've known them. It's also not always easy to know when someone is done with the conversation or not.

@MarshaMusselman I agree with you. We often start out on one subject and end up changing subjects several times.

@simone10 which is quite fine if the parties involved don't mind.

They can last weeks and months if we let them or if we can find something to say which I am full of words they might not make sense sometimes but we can usually keep the conversation going longer than most people would have quit.

I mostly enjoy blue threads, I've got quite a collection of them in my house, but lately I have been starting to collect red threads. Oh wait...wrong threads! haha Is there an easy way for us to tell how long of a thread we've got going on our posts without manually going back to each one? I was thinking about this the other day, wondering what post of mine has been going the longest with the comments. I have no idea. And every now and then, someone will comment on a really old thread of mine and I'll have to go back and re-read everything because sometimes I forget what the post was even about! lol

@MarshaMusselman I agree that most of the time when people read and comment on old posts it's because they see it show up on the sidebar. I've done that myself a few times. But I also know that sometimes members will take the time to scroll back through other members old posts and leave comments. There is one member I know that is currently doing that with my discussions. She even commented to tell me she was going back through many of my old ones. I see a lot of new members doing that as well, as it helps them get to know the person better.

@moffittjc I'm guessing you're taking about rebelann as she does that a lot. She just found one I did back in 2016. The one thing about that particular post is I talk about working the night shift. I thought it was longer ago that I worked then not just four years. That may have been the year I went to Guatemala but I'm not sure.

I don't think there's any way of knowing easily without openings them all up. on the other hand if you're talking with someone like Anna some or I don't know some of the others that are here every day I would kind of guess that the threads are a daily edition and so if you see when the post started then you can gather how long it's been going on maybe a month or 2 months but they go back and forth depending on how long how often you are going back and forth with it but for knowing how long after I don't have any idea on that either. I also find that even if I've been commenting recently it doesn't hurt to go back and re-read the last comment or two that I've made because someone will say something to make me think of something and then I'll go back and read something I've said and realized I already said that before they're coming off what I said rather than the other way around so no sense in repeating myself 12 times but if I don't go back and look that might be what I've done. I believe when old posts are reply or responded to its when people are using their computers and the post shows up in their sidebar. on the phone that doesn't take place cuz there's not enough space and I know one person that responds on Old Post is Rebelann but I've done it to. I've gone back to old posts and then when I'm in there I respond but I see that it's two years old or whatever because the sidebar doesn't tell you, I don't think or who takes a look at the date anyway? This was all done voice to text so that's why the long sentences sometimes I go back and put periods and sometimes I just let it be at least it makes a little more sense than some of my typing does with all the typos.

With Anna we don't worry about time as they go on and on for many months. The problem is the times when we can't be here much and we lose a notification that we would have continued for awhile yet.

@CarolDM if we all kept threads going longer we probably wouldn't have time to visit with many others so we have to pick and choose.

I absolutely love when people comment more then once on my post or on my comments. I do tend to run out of things to say fast though. Some I know are more talkative here and I will write longer comments to them etc.

I love threads, the longer the better and the more lotters the funnier it becomes. I can think of 2 threads I've had since I joined and both were so funny especially when it got confusing.

I think part of the reason it gets confusing is because it's not easy opening up all the previous comments. But also some pass is start new topic and that can confused some too.

Some threads are easier to work with than others and that may be mainly due to the topic.

Meaning you don't do threads nor make sure you have the last say?

I like long threads. Lately though the site errors make it almost impossible to have long threads. I reply until I don't have anything more to say and end it with the like button or an emoji.

but do you think it's late errors or do you think it could be so many people on the internet at one point in time I don't really know usually my first page will take awhile to load and then after that page is loaded fairly well I don't know that that's my lot but I don't know what it is honestly.

@MarshaMusselman It happens throughout the day. I've seen it's happening mostly to my posts. Which is frustrating when I can't answer comments on them. There are other posts I can't get into also which is also annoying.
