A brag post about my broccoli

When we were first told to ‘stay safe and stay home’, I planted some vegetable seedlings. It took me about three weeks before I managed to get to the store before the seedlings were all gone. It seems the whole community was thinking that planting vegetables was a good idea.
I don’t know what I had in mind really. I guess my main thought was that I’d be home to look after them and that it would give me an interest while we were ‘confined to quarters’.
I went out to check them yesterday and the broccoli is starting to form heads. I’ll be able to tell Horse about them when he gets back from Montana.
Have you got some good vegetable photos to show us?

That is great news. I know a lot of people were upset when the virus crap started and they shut down certain areas of the stores and this being one of them which I found stupid because it is food I mean come on

Thank you for sharing the picture. It's been a long time that I had wanted to plant broccoli but I am always discouraged when I think of the insects here.

@JudyEv that is my problem with tomatoes, the aphids are always there so I cannot plant tomatoes.

@JudyEv Indeed, I do though have a nice plum tree, which usually yields nice plums every August :)

No disrespect to you Judy, but broccoli is nothing to brag at. It's one of the few vegetables I can't stand to eat! haha
But good for you for successfully growing it. Are you going to make Vince eat it?

@JudyEv I will only eat brussel sprouts if they are covered in olive oil and baked in the oven. They come out nice and crispy, almost like a chip. Sprinkle some salt or garlic on them and they actually don't taste that bad.

@moffittjc I have to agree that at least they are edible like that.

I love broccoli. It will be a treat to eat some fresh out of the garden! No, we are getting to that age when gardening is too much work.

@JudyEv Do you have to blanch it before you freeze it, or just freeze it?

@oahuwriter My mother watered her plants that way as we were always short of water on the farm.
