A brag post about my broccoli

When we were first told to ‘stay safe and stay home’, I planted some vegetable seedlings. It took me about three weeks before I managed to get to the store before the seedlings were all gone. It seems the whole community was thinking that planting vegetables was a good idea. I don’t know what I had in mind really. I guess my main thought was that I’d be home to look after them and that it would give me an interest while we were ‘confined to quarters’. I went out to check them yesterday and the broccoli is starting to form heads. I’ll be able to tell Horse about them when he gets back from Montana. Have you got some good vegetable photos to show us?

That looks wonderful! I love broccoli. I believe I posted my cauliflower, pumpkin, and beets. Don’t know if you were around to see them.

That is great news. I know a lot of people were upset when the virus crap started and they shut down certain areas of the stores and this being one of them which I found stupid because it is food I mean come on

Thank you for sharing the picture. It's been a long time that I had wanted to plant broccoli but I am always discouraged when I think of the insects here.

@JudyEv that is my problem with tomatoes, the aphids are always there so I cannot plant tomatoes.

Sometimes it's a losing battle against insects. I've sprayed these once or twice.

Ohh, your broccoli is looking magnificent! I do unfortunately not have any pictures of vegetable that I can show, because my garden is not suitable for growing my own veggies.

@JudyEv Indeed, I do though have a nice plum tree, which usually yields nice plums every August :)

Look at you, your farming roots are showing. That is a good looking broccoli plant. My tomatoes are growing in size, but are not changing colour. Our red peppers are changing colour but are very small in size.

No disrespect to you Judy, but broccoli is nothing to brag at. It's one of the few vegetables I can't stand to eat! haha But good for you for successfully growing it. Are you going to make Vince eat it?

@JudyEv I will only eat brussel sprouts if they are covered in olive oil and baked in the oven. They come out nice and crispy, almost like a chip. Sprinkle some salt or garlic on them and they actually don't taste that bad.

Vince isn't that keen on it but it's green so that explains it although he is always serving up green beans. Brussels sprouts are about the only thing I can't stand.
