More good news and science on mask wearing

So, 99% of my friends think wearing masks is a good thing, but some of my friends from the midwest US (where I grew up) are making very strong statement about "it doesn't help, I'm not wearing one, if you are a high-risk individual you should be vigorously isolating and let the rest of us get along with our unmasked lives." This, unfortunately, irritates me no end. She had a bunch of studies about mask permeability, which made her post sound both scinetifically convincing and religious ("I'm being loving to other people by showing them that wearing masks is not going to protect them.") So today I saw a new study, which is somewhat anecdotal, but includes some historical and current data. The conclusion was that where masks are worn, even if the virus is transmitted, the people contracting the disease either are asymptomatic or have milder symptoms and much less rise in deaths. Viral load. Viral load. Let me say it again: Viral load. This is something that has been studied even back in 1938 with flu virus. The less virus inside you (mouse, human, etc.) the fewer severe symptoms! I think that I have found the logical fallacy in the "masks don't filter out virus-sized particles so they are useless' crowd's argument. They believe in a completely full glass or a completely empty glass: 100% or 0%. The truth is, that life is almost never 100 or 0. Science is not saying it is. But given the choice, if wearing a mask reduces your chances of giving someone else a severe case, or even (gasp!) that your mask protects you from getting a severe case. it seems to me that we should just all mask up. (Of course I, and most of you, thought that anyway.) It makes me less nervous about going back to school in person. I am aware that science is still coming in on this very new thing. But, it makes total sense to me that nothing is 100% vs. 0%. Comments? (Link to article below)
Skeptics say: Why wear masks if they don't filter out all coronavirus? Scientists say: Because it could mean less severe illness.

Whatever they say, whether scientific or religious, I don't care. I will wear a face mask when I go outside to give me peace of mind. That is the most important - peace of mind that I know I am safe. In this pandemic era so many are getting too smart for their own good.

Yes, you are right. So long as you don't try to fool your wife again by using sunglasses as a face shield.

it's just common sense really... I don't get why some people are so against wearing a mask. It can protect others and themselves. It is for everyone's safety. I hope people will cooperate so we can get through this.

It is certainly common sense, which some people seem to lack. Some of them only lack it on this one issue.

I don't refuse to wear masks, but can't wear them too long since I have COPD and can't catch my breath with it on too long.

People have some very funny ideas about the use of masks. Unfortunately, the non-wearers put everyone else at risk.

some people think they are invincible that's why they refuse to wear masks.

Sometimes some people are selfish for not wearing face masks.

Wearing mask doesn't actually stops the virus but it prevents in anyway the wearer from easily contaminated.
