Why do some people lose faith in God?

I am just wondering why some people become anti-God. Perhaps they are so weak to hold on and be faithful to Him. I have a teacher in high school who had become like this. He tends to be so religious before. Now, he seems not believing in God. What is your take on this matter? Image Credit: i.redd.it

I usually don't comment on religious posts. I will only say after losing a child, you question everything.

I am sorry about it. I lost my father for more than 6 years now. At first, I questioned God for this matter. Eventually, I accepted that there is a reason why it happens so soon.

@Shavkat No reason to lose my child. No parent should ever outlive their child.

I will start with this...I can only talk about how I feel and the way i see things. I do not mean and disrespect to anyone else and their beliefs. I would not say I am anti god but more that I just don't believe in god. I have no issue with someone believing in god. I grew up in a catholic home and went to church every Sunday till about 8th grade when I started to question many things I was being taught and I either didn't get answers or I got answers that made no sense to me. I guess the more and more I looked for answers the more I believed it was made up to keep people in line. I believe I can be a good person with or without a "GOD".

You can certainly be a good person without God. But he calls us to holy in order to enter a holy heaven. None of us have ever been holy enough, that's why God sent his son Jesus to pay the price for us. He is the only one who has always been holy and through faith in him, we become new creatures in Christ.

People get disillusioned when things don't go the way they want. It could be a loss of a job, to the loss of a loved one. When we can't understand we tend to question everything. They think if there were a loving God, bad things wouldn't happen. It is sometimes hard to keep your faith strong when we can't understand His plan. But He does have a plan, and we have to cling to Him to see it.

Interesting question! I don't think they really got to know God well, they may have the wrong expectations or prefer evil over good.

@Shavkat Just like the devil, some people don't want to submit to anyone, even God.

To some extent, they might invoke evil things instead of God. I am not assuming but some people became pagans because they can't themselves being with God.

Firstly,as the saying goes,"behind every season there's a reason" having said this, I think mosttimes people try to force the Hands of God to Favour them according to their own expected times, but, if it doesn't happen when they expected it to happen they loose faith in God. . .forgetting that God is a respected of no man and that he does things in His own appointed time.

It is a sad thing. I am sure there are so many reasons why they suddenly changed and blamed God for their suffering.

I think some people are like the parable Jesus told about the seeds that were planted and how some flourished, but some didn't last because of the lure of riches or the persecution for their faith. Matthew 13: 3-9

There are many reasons. Sometimes, it is because people get hurt in church. They expect church people to be perfect and they are not. God's plans and timing do not match what we expect. Other times, it is losing a loved one and blaming God.
