How old is your stove?

After more than 15 years, our trusty two-burner stove finally gave up. That happened this morning following a power outage! So we could not cook anything at all. My husband had to go to an appliance store to get a new stove. Wow, this one's black and shiny. I'm so not used to having a sleek and classy one, but it's what the husband got. I rather like it. Now, here's hoping that this would stay w us for at least 10 years.

Our gas stove is probably just 2 years old, it replaced the one we have had for over 10 years, it's hardly used so much now since we shifted to induction cooking, our induction stove is also around 2 years old.

@almostoveryou when you do induction you need to learn a new skill and forget everything you know about about previous stoves, it also took us some time to master it to make it useful, it's superior especially with boiling and speed of cooking, it's also much much safer. We now only use gas for pressure cooking because I have no induction friendly pressure cooker.

@louievill indeed. I've burned a few dishes using induction. I'm thinking of getting a single burner for occasional use.

I've tried induction before and couldn't seem to get the hang of it so I switched back to gas stove.

Our stove is probably since early 2000s. It is white. When it gets dirty you really see it. But at least when I clean it I don't have to worry about chipping the color, etc.

Wow, that's a long-running stove. I actually like the white casing too, husband didn't find one and opted for the black instead.

@almostoveryou I think on a black surface scratches are more visible.

@almostoveryou Ah, I guess all appliances can be different and it takes some time getting used to. But if you cook a lot, I'm sure you will adjust in no time. Our stove is adequate . . . but someday maybe we will aim for a fancier one
.

Thank you. I'm still trying to get used to the amount of fire that comes out of the burner. That must be a good stove you have, and I hope it lasts for a longer time.

Most convenient, I imagine, and it's good for the environment.

I have gone through three stoves (the ones that sit on top of the counter, two and three burners) in the past 20 years. This one has lasted so far for about 5 years. I am trying to take really good care of it!
