I'm so excited! When we start school in August, I will have the elementary students for music in my music room. There has been a lot of discussion, such as "should we keep the students in one room to minimize travel, and specials travel between rooms? is there enough airflow in that room?" My room being in a half-basement (soundproof) it was questionable. They had professionals come in and measure airflow, and it is fine!
The band was always very squashed in my room, and they need space between instruments, so they are going to practice in the cafeteria. Nobody will be eating in the cafeteria this year. They will eat in their classrooms instead, to minimize mixing classes. The cafeteria will make bentos (box lunches) for people who order them, but a lot of kids bring their lunch anyway.
The middle and high school choir (also my classes) will meet in the auditorium, which has the best airflow in the school in spite of no windows. It also has a grand piano.
So things are looking up.
Do you know how your local school is dealing with the pandemic?

I'm glad they are being wise. I've heard some places in Georgia have not been wise. We have about 700-900 new cases per day across Tokyo, which is way too many in my opinion, but most of them are on the other side of town and we have a huge population. I hope they go down by the time we start in a bit less than a month.

@petatonicsca I hope the virus stops spreading in both of our countries. Maybe we will have a vaccine that works before too long. Be careful and stay safe.

@RubyHawk A vaccine, a treatment. Both would be nice, and you better believe I'll be the first in line for any vaccine.

That's very good news for your classes and it seems like the school is being very responsible in how it is handling the current situation.

We're going to start like that, for the first two weeks 50% in the morning and the other 50% in the afternoon, to learn new entry protocols (take temperature, disinfect hands, stay 6 feet apart)
