Second of Two!

I have accomplished my documents for my retirement. The second one is from the Social Security System (SSS) and I have done that yesterday. Of course my son drove me to the agency. First, at 9AM, we went to the Barangay Office to acquire a certificate that I am a resident of the locality. I paid P50 for that, and I let my son photocopy it. Then, we went to the SSS office, and I was given number 36 after they took my temperature and I sanitized my hands with alcohol. My son stayed outside. It was a grueling 3-hours-wait for me. But when it was my turn, it only took me 30 minutes to finish it all. Why? it was because all of my documents were already stapled including my 2 1x1 ID pictures. It paid to be prepared. The persons before me had more than an hour submitting their records. They did not submit the complete requirements needed (e.g., no ID picture, photocopies of 2 ID cards, no bank statements, etc). We came home at 2PM. Sis ate her lunch, while I had to eat rice. Son had eaten his lunch in a food store and he also gave me a small pack of french Fries and ice cold tea. The lady employee gave me the acknowledgement form and was told that I can receive my 18 months lump sum of my retirement benefits. "Patience is a virtue, really." I therefore should be expecting my 2 pension money to arrive in 30 to 60 days time.

it makes a big difference having your own vehicle and companion. your son is thoughtful to give you snacks while waiting. was it hot inside? are they open whole day?

SSS office observed the proper protocol. we were 2 seats apart and the service was swift. the only problem was what i mentioned in my discussion; those who applied had lacking documents and that caused the delay of the good flow of the persons applying for retirement benefits

@ridingbet when the no lunch break was implemented for govt agencies, i would go near or during lunch time because i notice a lot of numbers get skipped because they decided to leave because they came early and were already sleepy, tired, or hungry.

@hereandthere the lady who assisted me had her reliever. she excused herself for lunch and she was replaced by another. i think the other lady ate fast, because she arrived early too. may it was a case of '' subo sabay lunok'' type ( eat and swallow at one)

yes, it should be online now, but the employees of the government agency were all in their late 40s and early 50s. hahah! just like me, i believe it will be difficult for them to be on desktop always to do online.

@ridingbet We have two options here online or by normal mail. All employees have been trained to use a computer many years ago, but not all old people here use a computer. My neighbor is 82 years old and she does not use a computer.
