The fruit of rattan

Let me share the picture of the rattan fruit that is sold in the supermarket. The rattan fruit is exotic so I wonder why it is there in the supermarket. It is very sour but edible for those with tolerating taste buds. When I was young we eat that but I don't know if I can still eat that now.

The rambutan is a cousin of lychee. This rattan fruit is far from rambutan, very sour.

I have never evert tried this one. I saw this fruit before but I never thought it was ratan. in fairness, it is cheap. thanks for the info.
