Happy Saturday! It’s time to....go watch. I’m still feeling a little “off” after that episode on Wednesday, so I’m not playing this weekend. I could, then withdraw if I started feeling bad; however, that makes it difficult on everybody. If they need me to “pace” (keep score to keep a threesome [and they move much slower] from happening) I’ll do it, though....and lots of pictures for the tour page! Meanwhile, sing along with this song that you know and love.
Don’t Do Me Like That - Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
It was sort of incumbent on me to buy Damn the Torpedoes, given it came out just after I joined the Navy.
(For those who don’t know, that was Admiral Farragut’s command during the Battle of Mobile Bay in the Civil War.)
When it came out in 1979, Tom Petty was just another one of those struggling people who’d been lumped in “new wave” because he didn’t play disco or lame pop. By 1980, he was a superstar.
And you can thank this song, which came out in late 1979 and stayed on the charts into 1980, for that. As well as other hits like “Here Comes My Girl” and “Refugee.”
Or the fact that this is just a dang good album.
