No! Not more country music! Yep. Sorry. It’s a coincidence that today’s 40-year-old song just happens to be a country song, coming on the heels of the discussion about the Country Music Hall of Fame inductions. I’ll make it up to you later. I promise. Here’s today’s great, timeless song....that goes back to 1980.
I Believe in You - Don Williams
Don Williams was to the 70s and 80s what Jim Reeves was to the 50s and 60s: a smooth, mellow voice that went well with country and adult contemporary (where this song was also a top ten hit). Williams got his start in folk music, as part of the Pozo-Seco Singers, then moved on to become one of the great voices in country music for two decades.
This is just a lovely song about putting priorities right (“I believe in love, I believe in babies”).
