Ice cream delivery should be a right in the summer

I wanted some ice cream for several days, but it has been so hot that it would have melted by the time I got home (about 3 minutes). Finally, at 7:00 tonight, it was cool enough (29C) that I decided to bike over and get several ice cream bars to store in my freezer. I took with me my thermal lunch sack with several pieces of frozen gel that keeps lunches cold. I bought them, hurried home, and on the way home I thought, "If I were in charge, every family should be able to get ice cream delivered from a freezer truck on the hottest days. They can buy it at other times, but let's say it's a right to have frozen treats in the heat." Ha ha. Like that would ever happen. If you were in charge, what would be your crazy ruling? (I'm being goofy here. Actually I would make free education and help with housing, health care and food.)

They should actually just do that. I always have to bring home melted cream than ice cream.

@petatonicsca That's very convenient. Around here, you have to eat melted ice cream if you don't hurry.

Some stores sell dry ice so you can get your frozen goods home, but not this store. They are local so I guess they think we live close enough not to need it.

When it's hot we don't usually go for an ice cream. We just prepare a cold fruit juice and avocado smoothies with ice.

I've been mostly drinking quantities of cold water.

@petatonicsca For me, I am avoiding drinking cold water. It's not good as I have learned it.

that's a good idea bringing a thermal bag with gels to be sure they don't melt. here there are ice cream carts plying the streets. or you go to the sari-sari store which is just 3 to 5 houses away.

I remember ice cream carts from when I was a kid. They had a special bell sound and all the children would run inside and ask their mothers for money.

When I was at high school, we'd buy an ice-cream 'brick'. It would be wrapped in several sheets of newspaper then we'd hurry the 20 minutes or so home to the farm and pop it in the freezer till tea-time. The newspaper seemed to be good insulation.

@petatonicsca Haha. No, I don't think your computer would be a good insulator.

You're right. If I had newspaper I would use it. I don't think my computer will work, though.

That's helpful. This store is only about three blocks from me but it is really hot.
