Should Mylot Email Users That Are Not Here From A Very Long Time?

I have experienced this few of the websites I have joined although these were not earning or chatting websites but I think many websites have this automatic system where they email users who are not active on the website from long which are like a reminder to the user. Although am not sure if it'll bring the users back but won't be a bad option because I see some of the users that back a come back do mention that they saw a notification email from mylot and that pushed them back. Do you Believe it'll be a good option if mylot can send an email to users who are not here from few months?

It wouldn't be a bad idea to email the users. I think myLot should do a thorough cleanup of the site's users, possibly on a yearly basis, to remove those accounts that are no longer active.

@myklj999 Yeah, you got a pretty good point there. A lot of users do seem to reappear after many years of absence.

It is not something that I believe has been a practice here. Yet one option could be to deactivate users who have not logged in since a year or so, or put them and their posts in some kind of "Archive" section. That would lessen the burden on the Mylot servers as well.

Good option

Servers only see a load when someone is actually using them, so reducing the number of entries in a database has no effect on the load. There is provision in the Terms for deactivating accounts if they have been inactive for 6 months but it's something which we have never implemented in the 14 years we've been here.

It might be a good idea, maybe they would come back.

Yes I think so because when few come back they always post that they saw an notification email so they are checking back

We have the e-mail option for notifications. If someone reads one of their posts, and they have the e-mail option selected, they will receive a notice about it.

@Butterfingers True, but it's been done. Every so often I get a comment on an older post.

Yes but if they were not active from months there is a lesser chance if anyone will comment on their discussion

It actually might be a good idea if Admin took this up and actually did send an email to someone who has been inactive completely for something like a three month period. Something along the lines, "Where did you go? We're missing you." Or something like that. THAT being said, I am not sure it would make anyone come back who does not want to. Most people probably did not forget about the site. They simply got bored with it, and an email may not have any impact on encouraging them to return.

We can message them on here if we want. Personally, I only give out my email address to a select few.

When we join a website we enter our email so mylot will have all our emails if they like to contact us
