As I wait.....

As I wait for my husband and daughters to join for lunch, I can spare some time here to post this discussion and do a bit more. The food is ready and table is set. My daughters will have their lunch break at 1 and that's another 15 minutes. Husband should also be done with his ongoing call by that time. Meanwhile, I can sit here and mylot.I am having a glass of water and nothing seems so refreshing than a glass of water at this time. . In last class session, I forgot to keep my water bottle on my side. And I could not sip any water in the long session of one and hour hours. I would sip water a few times in my sessions. Once the class was in a flow, I found it rude and inappropriate to get up to get my bottle. I often tell my students to keep water by their side and keep sipping it in between. I feel a hydrated body and mind works better. But today I myself forgot to carry my bottle from my kitchen to my work table. It's drizzling outside. We see dark clouds and seems we will have some heavy pour in some time. Our neighboring states are struggling with flood and landslides and many regions in our state are also on alert for flood. When I switched on TV after my class , I heard news of fire tornado in South California stretching long in wild life, bad flood and land slides in China and many states of India facing flood due to heavy rainfall. All these add up to the trouble that the whole world is already facing in this pandemic. It is mid August and the "er" months would start in two weeks. And once the er months start ( September, October, November and December), we get a psychological feeling that another year is nearing it's end. 2020 will go down the History for many disasters. And we all hope that we get to know of something positive as it ends. Will move to my notifications. Was happy to see that I have been paid by Mylot. I was not much here in last few days and missed thatCongratulations!! to all those who made it this month For those who missed the $$$ sign this month, there is always another month

There are always disasters around the world every year, but they are worse now because of the pandemic. So sorry you missed payout. I hope this month will be much better for you.

@arunima25 Well, you have a busy job. If I still worked, I would only have the time to be here on the weekends.

This year the intensity and frequency of these catastrophes is more and you are right...the uncertain pandemic crisis makes it worse. I got paid for July. But here in August, I don't see myself reaching the payout.

@DianneN And though I had a long weekend this time, other pending chores kept me away from here for four long days. Well I am happy that I have this site to come whenever I can and refresh myself.

It is a good practice to do so to stay hydrated and more productive. We all are keeping our fingers crossed and sticking to our faith. Hopefully new year will be better.

It certainly hasn't been a good year. The pandemic really impacts so badly on other catastrophes.

@arunima25 That's true. Earthquakes, fire, floods are bad enough but add a pandemic and it becomes doubly difficult.

Each year we get some or the other natural catastrophe. This year the frequency and intensity is more and the ongoing pandemic crisis makes it even worse.

Spot on , while you said it's a terrible year. I lately visited HSR and noticed that many cafes and food joints were in the process of dismantling or they already vacated by then. This is taking a serious toll on blue collar jobs , the ones in unorganised sector have already lost their jobs. But there is something I feel many people would have realised about money . Without no efforts in savings,I feel the money is being stacked in account , even my wife realised the same. I feel , maybe I was very extravagant and hope many of us would have learnt it during such crisis.

@arunima25 Yes , that materialism self would certainly be learnt by most of the people, at least I am the one who agrees to have learnt it.

@parpande Many of my friends have shared the same experience. Well I was consciously trying for minimalism and spiritual growth since last few years. And this lockdown has really reinforced and deepened it.

This crisis had some valuable lessons to teach us. I really felt that I have grown spiritually in this crisis with all introspection and self assessment. It taught us to slow down and ponder. Not to take things for granted. And definitely a good question to ask before indulging in too much of materialism---" Do I really need this?". That makes us realize that we do not need much to live a happy life. Minimalism is the way to live a more valuable life. Just keeping fingers crossed for better times to come and those affected to come out of it. But hope we all stick to the great learning that we had.

I am also very particular about that especially when I have to talk so much while teaching. Today I checked twice to make sure that I have my full bottle of water on my work table.
