Day 15 Promise 460, 461, 462, 463, 464, 465, 466, 467, 468, 469, 470 Matthew 24:1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to show him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? Verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. 3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. 10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. (KJV) Hollywood has made many ‘end of the world’ movies. People jest about when or if the world will end. Jesus gave many signs about what to expect when we come to the end. Many people believe we are already living in the last days. Jesus told His disciples not to be deceived. As Christians, you need to pay attention to what Jesus said about the end times and what to look for when the end draws nigh. 1. No stones would be left on another of the temple. Titus destroyed the temple in 70 A.D. 2. Deceit. Many false messiahs have come and gone since Jesus returned to heaven. You are to look for His return, but you must be aware of the signs of His coming. 3. Wars and rumors of wars. War isn’t new. War existed since God created man. Yet, there are more wars now than at any time in history. Not only the wars you hear about on the news, but wars being fought on every continent between many groups of people. There are also rumors of wars. Mighty nations threatening to go to war. 4. Famines. Famines exist in many third world countries. Many organizations send food and health supplies and people to help feed starving nations. 5. Pestilences—disease. One of the results of famine is disease. Starvation leads to sickness, disease, and death. 6. Earthquakes in different places. Earthquakes happen every day. You only hear about the ones that impact the seismograph. Recently there have been reports of earthquakes where we haven’t heard of them before. 7. Christians killed because of their faith. Religious cultures deny the truth about Jesus Christ as the Son of God and seek out and kill anyone who claims to be a Christian. 8. False prophets. Not the same as false messiahs, false prophets claim to be Christian and ‘know’ when Jesus will return. Jesus said no man knows the day or hour when He will return, only His Father in heaven knows the day. 9. Christians will lose their zeal. Their faith will grow cold. Many people claim to be Christians. They wear the symbols of Christianity, crosses, fish, have bumper stickers, have a Bible in their home. Yet, it’s an outward show, meaningless if they don’t spend time daily in God’s Word or getting together with other believers in worship and praise. 10. Endure to the end. Yes, if you keep your faith and let nothing turn you from Jesus Christ, you will be saved. Eternal life is yours. 11. The Gospel preached to all nations, and then the end will come. Today you have access to the gospel on the Internet. Missionaries go to many nations. It’s broadcast on television. Yet, there are still places in the world who have never heard the gospel of Jesus Christ. When every nation, people, and tribe have the opportunity to hear the good news of salvation, then the end will come. We’re not there yet. We’re standing on the threshold of the end times. Not all these signs are fulfilled yet. There is still one more important sign or promise of what we can expect with the end times. Don’t be deceived into believing we’re already living in the end times. We’re close. Let’s pray: Father, You alone know the day and hour of Jesus’ return.
