It Scared Me

Last night, it was almost dark. The kitchen window caught my eye. There was a glow from outside and something hanging from the top of the window. It looked like a snake, a very large snake with a triangular head. A big snake? Wow! I fussed and fumed wondering what to do. I decided to get closer to see what I was dealing with. It turned out to be an oven mitt that I washed and hung on a hook to dry. It stretched some and was longer than usual and the darkness inside and the light outside made it look even bigger. I was so glad it was not a snake. Have you ever been scared by an ordinary household object? Please share your story.

OMG! I am glad it was not a snake. I can't think of any story right now that I was scared of.

It not only looked like a snake but it looked like a huge snake. I thought I saw it move.

Yeah, sometimes I see weird glowing lights and I realize it is from a clock inside, or something electronic that is on in here.

You got me there for just a second. I perked up when I saw weird glowing lights. I'm glad it was only your clock.

@JWMILLER My son used to work in a factory. He did not have a driver's license so he hitched rides to town. Often he had to walk and saw a variety of strange glows and mysterious lights doing strange maneuvers. That was in NY state.

Me too But I used to live near a place with glowing lights in the night, but I never went to see if I could see them.

Yes we have 2 big windows in the living room and we keep the shade open at night. I see things out there sometimes but now we have 2 big lights that shine in the driveway so makes it easier to see out there.

Nighttime can be scary if you don't know what you are dealing with. I have seen videos of strange people and shapes captured on doorbell cams. It is a strange world out there.

@rakski They are a lot of creepy crawly creatures in Florida. There are beady little eyes staring at you if you shine a light at night.

A lot of times My reflection gets me sometimes too. Glad it wasn't a snake though, that would be terrifying.

@Wowtalk Did you ever think of getting a dog to warn you if anyone is lurking around?

What did you think that your reflection was? An intruder? Something worse?

@akalinus When I am home alone the paranoia begins, lol, The thoughts of some one getting in my house is definitely one of the fears I have.

There are really incidents like that where you felt scared for nothing haha. It would be good to calm yourself first down and make sure if it's really scary or not. If it is, face it or leave it then.

I was afraid to go into the kitchen. Then, I thought I better see what that is. I'm glad it was not some snake to deal with.

I am terrified of snakes, but I still had to read your post. I am glad that it was not a snake but an oven mitt hanging out to dry.

I can understand how this would have been very scary. I've seen bits of garden hose that looks like a snake but that's about it.

I have mistaken inanimate objects for snakes. Once one of my kids bought a rubber snake at a dollar store. They scared the heck out of me with that darn thing.

@jvicentevalera It was a great relief to know I was only dealing with an oven mitt. I think I can handle that.
