Two Sides of the Dam

Dam!
No, not the “dirty word.” Those big things that hold water.
There are a mess of them in Tennessee and North Carolina. Everywhere I turned I saw another dam sign. (Ha, see what I did there?
)
One of the best-known is Fontana Dam. Fontana Lake, formed by the dam, borders an entrance to the Smoky Mountains. And, since I like water and was nearby, I stopped and took a stroll.
The photos above show the two different sides of the dam, providing two different spectacular views.
One of the other dams in the area that I didn’t make it to this time around is the Cheoah Dam, where part of the Harrison Ford film The Fugitive was filmed.
But the stop at Fontana Dam — like the others — provided the opportunity for lovely views.

Electric power. Eastern Tennessee had electricity early in the scheme of things.

It is, indeed. I can only imagine what it looks like in the autumn, when the leaves change color!!

I went to Hoover Dam one time on a business trip and bought all my kid's Dam t-Shirts! (my dad when to Hoover Dam and all I got was a Dam TShirt)!
