Things are back to normal....well, let me rephrase that. I’m home. Nothing “normal” about me. I’ll prove it with another song from my list of favorites from 1980. Hard to believe this is 40 years old now, but you wouldn’t know it! #5: Let My Love Open the Door - Pete Townshend At the end of the 70s The Who were in disarray. They had lost drummer and prince of rock and roll clowns, Keith Moon, to an accidental prescription drug overdose. Then, on their 1979 tour, eleven fans were killed at a stampede at a general-admission show in Cincinnati. It looked like the end of The Who. Roger Daltrey made the movie McVicar. Guitarist/lyricist Pete Townshend released a sterling solo album, Empty Glass, having a top ten solo hit with this song. This was part of a terrific one-two punch, with The Who’s Face Dances being the other half. Townshend wrote ‘em both. Well done, Pete.
