Maybe, Beginner's Intermediate would be better.
I'm getting better at crocheting, but I don't know any real fancy stitches. I can single or double crochet in the front or back loop only, I can do a granny shell, I can do a triple / treble. I can slip stitch.
I need to work on working in the round. There are so many things I want to make that works in the round. I need to understand increasing / decreasing more too.
Today I came across this video from one of my favorite youtube channels. Sunflowers just happen to be one of my friend's favorite flowers. I want to make these for her as a surprise. I guess I am going to have to get a bunch of yellow and brown yarn. I'm just glad that this youtuber is so great at explaining things.
Oh, and I can picot too.. I forgot to say that.
It's been awhile since I've mentioned crocheting / yarn. Did ya miss it?

This gorgeous place setting is 38 cm (15") in diameter and easily crocheted in the round! Dress up your dinner party plates for the fall :) Pattern here (ETS...

I've seen so many patterns for sunflowers. I want to find a pattern to make up the actual flower, including the stem.

@LadyDuck I think that it would look cute. I can also imagine a ring with a little sunflower that serves a silverware wrap.

I will get back to crocheting in the winter. I'm not good at anything other than single and double. The directions to everything is in another language. LOL.
Oh did you know there are several different colors of sunflowers? white, pin, burgandy, etc.

I've seen the burgundy ones before, but didn't know about the pink and white ones. My friend likes the yellow ones.

Michael's craft stores used to offer classes, not sure if they still do.

@kareng Ours moved closer, but I'm not sure that anyone goes to it anymore. Hobby Lobby is just down the road from Michael's now.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Thank you so much. I am at the chain, but the video goes to fast for me to get it. I have a book can't understand it. But I won't give up. You have, encouraged me.

Don't give up, you'll get the hang of it. I watched several different youtube videos when trying to figure out the best way to hold the yarn etc, and then I just had to learn to go with the flow and let the method come to me. When I first tried years ago, it was the tension that got me the most.

@popciclecold I believe there is a way you can slow the video down, but I'm not quite sure how to do it.
Let me try to explain the way i do a chain.
I put my thumb and index finger on the slip knot. Then I angle the hook in front of my yarn, press and wrap the yarn around the front of the hook and then pull through the slip knot on the hook.
This video says it's in slow motion :

That will be a nice and colorful placemat for your friend. It does make it nice to follow along with someone else when learning to make new stitches.

@ScribbledAdNauseum That will be nice. The burgundy and yellow will go together well.

I am not even sure which stitches she uses in this tutorial as I haven't watched it yet. I"m thinking of getting some burgundy colored yarn too, and doing two in that color and two in yellow.

Thank You. Yes, I am trying to be very patient. I keep seeing things I want to try. I saw a graphgan that is the front end of a Jeep with the word "jeep" on it. I want to make that for a friend.
Enjoy your Saturday. Hope it's cooler in OH than it is here.

I don't think I'd be where I am with my crocheting now if it wasn't for the internet! Those booklets with pictures that show you how to crochet just confuse me!
Enjoy your crocheting as well and happy crafting!

It's a really relaxing pasttime. I tried to learn when I was younger, but I gave up because I was trying to learn via written instructions. I used youtube to get me started again.

I definitely will. I want to find a pattern for making an actual crocheted sunflower too. I might make one for myself. They aren't my favorite flower, but I think it'd look cute in a pot.

Yes, exactly that. Reading, writing, crocheting as well as doing coloring and dot to dot. All good for getting rid of anxiety.

@CarolDM That is good. I've always thought nature to be a natural blood pressure medicine, or anti anxiety medicine.
