I am going to visit the husband of my dear friend who recently passed away. He asked me to sort out her clothing and some of her personal items.
This will be a bit hard for me. I haven't been to their home since before she went to the hospital over a month ago. The place will be filled with fond memories of her and I will try to focus on the happier times.
I have told her husband not to push himself. Better to take it a little at a time and not get overwhelmed with emotions. There is no need to get rid of everything. Keep things that will bring a smile.
Much of her clothing will come with me. I know quite a few people that will be able to wear the clothing. I am going to select some of her favored clothing to make into pillows for her family members. I hope they will be happy to receive them.
Although I don't have room for more houseplants, her husband is giving me some of her plants. I will cherish them. A had given her a couple of them, they will be coming home with me too.
I had given her a Grinch stocking last year for Christmas. I asked if I could have that. He agreed that I should have it. When I gave it to my dear friend, she cried. She loved the Grinch. Said that she would keep it hanging year round. It is what I will do as well.
Once I drop Little Miss off at my sister's, I am heading out. Have to compose myself first. Put on a smile, and get this done.

It was difficult indeed. Cried when I was on the way to her home, cried when her husband cried, cried when her niece cried. But, we laughed too and shared fond memories.

I did my best to maintain my composure. Even so, I cried, but also laughed and smile.

That is never a easy task to do but glad you will be there to help him out thru this. We had to do this when my great grandma passed away and it was not easy. I was able to get a few of her perfurmes and some purses of hers that I still have.

He did try to give me some of her purses. I declined because I have so many now and no space to store more.

@Blondie2222 Whenever I bring a new purse, I try to part with one that I rarely use. Some are favorites though and it makes it hard to get rid of them.

@LadyDuck I have yet to see her daughter and grandchildren. When I do, I will undoubtedly cry with them.

It wasn't easy. I thought I could go there and not shed a tear, be strong for her husband, however, I wept right along with him.

@ElusiveButterfly You cannot, you can refrain until you are alone and you force yourself to be strong. As soon as you meet someone from the family, you cry with them.

It was a little difficult walking into the home and not seeing her sitting at her desk. Her husband cried and I consoled him as best I could. Shortly after I arrived, her niece came over. She cried. I consoled her as well.
We laughed, we cried, we remembered.

@Courtlynn I know it will be a while before I can think of her without tears. She was such a good friend.

I am trying not to push myself too hard. I did come home yesterday and put my feet up for a while. I was emotionally exhausted. Took a short nap and woke feeling even more tired. I need to take better care of myself.

It was a bit rough. But, I managed to work through the tears and even found reasons to smile and laugh.
