Day 24 Promise 479 Mark 10:13 And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those who brought them. 14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. 15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. 16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them. Children are innocent and trusting. As adults, we want to protect our children from the corruption of the world. We want them to remain children as long as possible. Parents brought their children to Jesus so He would bless them, but His disciples rebuked their intentions. When Jesus saw what they did, He rebuked them and told them to bring the children to Him. He then told His disciples they needed to be more like children. As Christians, you are to be as trusting as a child when it comes to your faith in Jesus Christ. As adults, you tend to be skeptical about everything because the world has tainted everything you see and hear. Doubt clouds your actions and thoughts. You don’t have the innocence of youth anymore. Faith requires trust that God will do what He promised. Children trust with total innocence. When people come up to them, they have no reason not to believe or trust them, which is why when harm comes to children people become angry and want a harsh judgment against the person who harmed them. It is the faith and trust as children, Jesus referred to when He told His disciples they needed to accept Him in the same way a child does, with complete trust He would never lead them astray or harm them. That doesn’t mean you’re to trust what everyone tells you. Matthew 10:16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. (KJV) Trust God to guide your footsteps. Treat others the way you want to be treated and trust God in everything as little children trust you. Don’t discourage, but encourage. Be a light in a world of darkness. Let’s pray: Father, give me childlike faith to trust You in everything. Lead me, Lord, and I will follow. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. I agree, faith means we trust God and that He will not change His promises to us. That is why in my prayers, I also ask for a childlike faith.
