BALETE- The Mysterious and Magical Tree

Balete is a huge and magical tree that supposed to grow only in the Wild. What makes it magical is the stories of events that associated to it. In Philippine Folklore, this tree is told to be the home of the mystic encanto (pls google it) and the place where shamanism and animism take places. Kapre is a tall and dark man often seen smoking tabacco in trees (Philippine Folklore) and one of his favorites is the Balate Tree. If befriended, he is nice and friendly (specially to girls) but if not, he will follow you all your life. Here it is, what I have uploaded is one of the species of the Balete Tree planted in a clay pot for more than a decade now. (So probably we also have kapre in the house lols) Today, this tree is also associated to good luck and prosperity thus also considered as a money tree. Many are already selling this in stores, online and or shopping malls. Its branches are tied with red ribbons and accented with other objects to make it more appealing. I just dont know where the idea of good luck and prosperity associated with it comes from. I can't find concrete evidence to explain why it is magical bc i never had seen an encanto aside from seeing fireflies at night which is i think is another exciting topic i can discuss What makes it mysterious, this tree can grow and live in an open space/places where you dont expect it be there like in the rooftop, roadsides, old churches walls etc.. Into my deep analysis, What makes it a good luck money tree is when you propagate many of it and sell it in the market. Actually, you can start planting now (so you have one for 2021) or end up buying a pot in a price that could hurt your pocket so much... Whatever it is, no matter what the season is, it is just a plant that needs tender love and care. Luck and prosperity is in our hands- it's all about hard works. Thanks for reading guys. See you for another discussions.

Hahaha, I laughed at the portion where you said: "Into my deep analysis, What makes it a good luck money tree is when you propagate many of it and sell it in the market. Actually, you can start planting now (so you have one for 2021)" I had thought, you would say money will grow on it. Well, that's an interesting story, I've always perceived it as a tree that brings spirits. We once had a big tamarind tree in our backyard when I was a kid, and up to this day I have nightmares about that tree. It is as if it has a life of its own, sometimes jealous and ominous and harboring many bad spirits. lol.

when i hear the word balete, i always think of balete drive like the white lady stuff and taxi drivers' phobia when passing here. Still, balete is a tree. There's nothing to be scared of good old trees.
