In my country "buaya" or "crocodile" is one of animal which most often used to express something negative in Indonesia. "buaya darat", literally means land crocodile. it is used to say playboy or pervert/bawdy "air mata buaya" literally means tear of crocodile. it is used to judge hypocrite/wolfish activity poor crocodile, they are the scapegoat for human mistake

We use the buaya term for "corrupt" politicians because they always eat up people's tax money.
